Laser Therapy .
We offer class IV laser therapy at Encompass Health in Cheltenham.
Laser therapy is a medical treatment designed to reduce pain and inflammation and accelerate healing. It uses a process called photobiomodulation (PBM). Focused light photons are delivered into the injured/effected tissue and stimulates PBM. This then triggers a biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism, which can have profound healing effects.
At Encompass Health, Cheltenham, we have a class IV laser, otherwise known as a high-power or deep tissue laser. This offers a pain-free treatment (feeling only heat and gentle massage), which is safe, fast and effective on many musculoskeletal conditions.
Laser therapy is particularly successful in the treatment of: Tendinopathies (tendinitis or tendinosis), sprains/strains and tissue trauma, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, inflammation, joint pain and more.
“My tennis elbow has been brilliant since the laser – I’ve not felt a thing for months now – I’m thrilled to finally be rid of it.”
We use laser therapy on recent trauma injuries, overuse conditions as well as old and long-term injuries. It can be incorporated within a chiropractic or physiotherapy session, but is often delivered as a separate course of treatment.
Patients typically seeing [link to relevant pages] results after 3-5 sessions in acute cases, while chronic conditions will often require more. For stubborn tendinopathies, a typical course advised would be 10 sessions delivered across 6-8 weeks.
